Colours: Scarlet, Blue, and Yellow

These poems started out as a writing assignment for my Creative Advertising class in high school where the prompt was to describe a colour without naming the colour.

Since then I’ve added to this collection of poems in my journal, little by little, as different life experiences, TV shows, books and an overactive imagination reminded me of the colours of Scarlet, Blue and Yellow.

There have been so many moments where I would catch glimpses of these colours in my head. Frankly, I’ve always related my emotions to different colours, and these poems were meant to showcase that without our emotions (including both good and bad) we would be living in such a dull, black and white world as well as robbed of the duality each colour holds.

Scarlet (or Red)
