This photo series was inspired by two things: the word "comfort" and the journey of finding security/acceptance within our bodies.

“In the Desi community and culture, dark-skinned women are often left in the shadows, and yes, representation is growing but at a very slow rate. Instead of relying on other creatives to include and allow dark-skinned women to take up space, we took the initiative to create some magic.”

"Garden Sent" is a photo series created by freelancer Kacie Fraser that showcases a Godsent creation of effortless beauty that brings light to her garden. These magical moments capture the essence of how nature brings us the most bright and boldest colours.

“Although my dream picnic will have to wait due to COVID-19, I have showcased it here in a still life photography project. By playing around with fake food which I created with some colourful dough, and to show that all this was an unfulfilled dream, I used a lens filter for the foggy effect. I hope this project reminds everyone to always protect each other - to social distance and wear our masks - and the sooner we act, the closer we’ll get back to normalcy.”

“Working with Dez has been a complete breeze— it’s as if shooting with her gives a pause in time. Her energy and attitude towards her work and mission is very inspiring. “Something Timeless” is a 70s-inspired shoot but if you dig deeper, it is an act of self-awareness as Duyen looks back in the mirror. 

"Instead I became ceremony" is a photo series created by Mecoh Bain featuring Kyle Young Pine, a Kainai Blackfoot Fancy Dancer. Kyle is seen to be fancy dancing in traditional Regalia, a symbolic prayer for healing for himself, nature, and humanity by the Bow River in Alberta.

“We often forget to stop and appreciate how far we’ve come in our journeys, thinking of what’s next and what more we can do to get to where we want to be… ’Love in Los Angeles’ is a photo series about pausing and taking a step back to admire the work we have done, tuning out what more we have to do and what others might be accomplishing in their lives.”

“Not Another Headline, The Human Toll” is a photo series created by photographer Mecoh Bain that challenges people to think critically about the media they’re consuming and the relationships they have with the articles, language, subjects, and images.
