Chrysalis is a photo collection inspired by its concept, a transitional state; rebirthed, a reflection of personal development and growth, displaying colour and courage as our subject embarks on a journey to discover her authentic self and her true identity.

Rebirth refers to a change of physical form, a developmental change of state. My intention was to focus on using both muted and saturated natural colours as well as textures to depict this development throughout the image series, as well as draw a connection to both the conceptual theme and the physical look of a chrysalis.

Holly Thistlethwaite (she/her) is a 19-year-old creative from Melbourne, Australia, currently studying the Diploma of Fashion Styling at RMIT University. She is passionate about creating powerful editorial shoots based on current social issues and themes, as well as using this medium as a form of self-expression.
